What is Scrabble?
Scrabble is a letter game where each player places words on a board using seven randomly drawn letters, building on words already on the board. Each letter is worth a different number of points depending on its rarity, and certain squares on the board multiply the value of a letter or an entire word.
How to play well
- Rare letters (J, Q, X, Z) are worth the most points, but are also the hardest to place: save them for a bonus square instead of playing them too early.
- A shorter word well placed on a "triple word score" square often scores more than a long word placed poorly.
- Knowing a few short, uncommon words (2 and 3 letters) helps you get unstuck when your rack is awkward.
- The blank tile can stand in for any letter but scores no points: save it for situations where it unlocks a significant score.
Frequently asked questions
How does the tool above work?

Is the blank tile taken into account?
Yes, mark it with an asterisk (*): the tool will treat it as a free letter in its calculations.
What dictionary are the results based on?
On a list of words valid in official competition, available in French, English, Spanish, Italian and German.
